beetroot

Hi Doc. Is beetroot fattening? I boil it in salt water and eat when cold. Dont add sauces or sugar. Thanks.

Cooked beetroot is not fattening because according to the SA Food Tables it only contains 131 kJ or 30 kcal per 100g. This is an excellent vegetable that contains compounds that protect us against heart disease and other degenerative illnesses.
