Back op due discetomi

Dr want to operate and remove cussion (dicketomi)

MRI shows Evidence of a mild annular disc buldge at L4/5 as well as a promenent postero-central and left postero-lateral disc protrusion at the L5/S1 level, with no obvious exit foraminal stenosis.

I have contrant pain and numbness down both legs.
Is an op the only solution?
