As you may know, birds do not poo and widdle separately - they do both together, so when they poo, there' s some urine involved - that' s why you see some liquid around the more solid bits.

Now, depending on what the bird is eating, the urine component may increase relative to the poo - for example: my parrot like a little bit of fruit juice now and then (he drinks it out of a bottle top, which he holds like a little cup - too cute!) - so obviously then his urine output will increase for a short while too - nothing to worry about.

You don' t say what your bird is eating - hopefully he' s getting some fresh fruits and vegs at times - but rather don' t give him any lettuce, as this often has the effect of thinning their output - this could be at least partly due to lettuce' s very high water content.

So now: think about what this all means relative to what the bird is eating. Maybe it' s ok - you' ll have to judge based on your knowledge of the bird. Maybe cut down his fruit/veg intake for a bit, see what happens, and then reintroduce slowly...

Oh the other hand, if you' re concerned, you may prefer to be safe rather than sorry - in which case, the vet' s the answer.

Thanks for the above replies, his tummy has been going for about a week, but he is still so happy, talking whistling and being scratched. He often nibbles at paper whilst walking around, sure he eats it as well, but he has been doing that for years.

A birds poop can be a valuable indication of health .. but it also depends on what he is eating.

Do a google on it.
