Antibiotics and the pill

Hi there,

I have would like to know, if you do have to go on antibiotics whilst on the pill, for how long is the pill not working? till your next period?
Does not matter where you are in your cycle? i.e. if you just had your period, and you go on the pill is it inactive till your next period starts? Doctors always tell you that you should be careful, but they never say for how long!

You should use extra precautions for the duration of the antibiotic treatment and two weeks after.

Best wishes

All the info should be on the pill''s pamphlet.
However, the pill is usually inactive until seven days after you stopped using the antibiotics. Keep drinking the pill while taking the antibiotics and take extra precaution for seven days after finishing the antibiotics. The pill should be working fine after that.
