Ankles and guards

hi there i have weakish ankles due to Multiple sclerosis, i still do exercise and can manage even a light jog on the treadmill. Its NB that i exercise and keep fit with this disease however i am always scared of falling on treadmill while exercising as i sometimes (not often) fall without any apparent reason. Was wondering if you would suggest i wear these ankle guards i see at Dischem or where can i buy the best? i am not sure if these can indeed be worn while exercising or what their real puprose is? i take it they will prevent a bad injury to the ankle SHOULD i fall? i guess that is better than nothing?

Would you agree? pls give me suggestions on this and where to buy the best!

hi koko

You can try them, sure. The main benefit of those guards is not really to increase the strength of the ankle (because they don't), but to increase something called proprioception. That basically means that the guards will provide extra 'awareness' of your ankles so that your brain can control the ankle better. That's important, so it may work for you.

They can be worn for exercise, so you might try them and see if they help you. It's worth trying. Don't forget that you can also do exercise for the ankle, which may help you.

Good luck
