ANEURYSM

Hi there

My grandfather died of an aneurysm at age 55. My sister also had one (when she was still in her 20' s), but fortunately it was discovered and operated on. I want to know whether it is genetic, in other words, what are my chances (and my children' s chances) to also have it? And do I have to take any precautionary tests / measures to avoid it?

Thanks

Dear Didi
It may be hereditary - you can go for a sonar of the aorta to see if you have any signs of early aneurism forming.
