Hi LuLu

Regardless of what the clinical diagnosis is we can make your alsatian more comfortable. Thee are many products that are available on the veterinary market that help us manage pain related conditions. These include Petcam, Metacam Rimadyl, Previcox and even Prednisolone 5mg (this may induce more urination. These medicines need to be prescribed by the vet so you may have to take your alsation for a clinical.

The information provided does not constitute a diagnosis of your condition. You should consult a medical practitioner or other appropriate health care professional for a physical exmanication, diagnosis and formal advice. You also need to obtain a proper diagnosis for your dog''s condition. The automatic assumption - which may well be right - is that it is caused by some arthritic condition, which may or may not have as its cause hip dysplasia. Such conditions are painful, and more so in cold weather, and would be treated as described by the cybervet.

However, there is another condition, not uncommon, called degenerative myelopathy, which in essense is an affliction of the nervous system, of the spine, and which also may result in seeming paralysis. Unfortunately this condition is pretty well irreversible - however, and this is key: it is NOT PAINFUL, but it seems worse in HOT weather, not cold - so the treatment would be quite different.

Your vet will be able to tell you more.
