acute anemia

Hi my boyfriends mom died of a disease called acute anemia , some kind of cancer of the blood? what tests could he take to find out if he has been exposed? is it genetic? if we had a child would it be at any risk? thanks

Acute anemia means that she had too little red blood cells - this can be due to bleeding or suppression of the bone marrow. People with Thallassemia, a hereditary disease can also develop acute anemia. Ask her doctor what the cause was, and if this is something that your boyfriend needs to be worried about.
