Dear Steve
The acidity of blood is managed by the body via the kidneys and lungs and you don't need to use any extra medication to keep the pH balanced. The exception is high uric acid levels in the blood which is caused by a metabolic disorder and which can cause gout. This is not managed by the kidneys as the patient lacks a certain enzyme in the kidneys to break down the uric acid. For this you need to take something like Allopurinol.
