Our expert says:
You don't mention any details of your daughter's height or weight, so I cannot really judge if she is overweight or not. If she is not very overweight then it is better to use daily vigorous exercise to help her lose some weight and improve her muscle tone. Experts agree that exercise is the preferred treatment for young children who are not severely overweight. At the age of 7 years, your child is busy growing actively and needs a wide variety of nutrients to develop normally, so it is not a good idea to put such young children on strict diets. By all means make sure that she does not eat rich, fatty foods or drink litres of sweetened cold drinks, but concentrate on getting her to be as active as possible and she will lose weight and the tummy will decrease.
