2 miscariages

In this year I have had two miscarriages with no answers as to why they happened. How long should one ideally wait to fall pregnant again? Falling pregnant is easy, but both times I miscarried at 10 weeks. What tests can be done?

Dear liezel
There are many reasons as to why miscarriages occur, some of these reasons would include chromosomal abnormalities, the presence of infections, certain auto immune conditions, congenital abnormalities of the uterus and some medical disorders. We normally would start investigating if one has had more than 3 miscarriages because by definition, you are than termed someone suffering from recurrent miscarriages. Medically one does not have to wait before falling pregnant, however a prudent time interval before attempting a pregnancy would be 6 weeks after the miscarriage. Many times despite doing all the investigations, one may not find a definitive cause.
