In Hong Kong three of the more than 200 McDonald's fast food outlets plan to offer wedding reception services beginning in 2011.
People planning their weddings are now able to book their wedding celebrations for 1 January 2011 or later. The receptions can accommodate 50 to 100 guests and includes an apple wedding cake.
The charge for the receptions is just a few hundred dollars, which is very low compared with the several thousands that add up quickly when planning an elaborate wedding reception.
In Hong Kong fast food chains are a place to flirt and take a date. That's why residents of the city do not think of holding a wedding reception there as absurd, while most Europeans would probably reject the idea.
