For many years men have been mocked for their unique ability to exaggerate symptoms when it comes to colds and flu. A mild cold easily turns into a "life-threatening disease" for most men. Besides medication, their greatest need is a heavy dose of TLC.
Interestingly, recent studies have found that men really do experience flu symptoms more intensely than women and that perhaps "man flu" is not a myth after all.
According to experts, men have more temperature receptors in the brain, which causes them to develop a higher temperature and feel much worse than women. (When we develop flu, our temperature rises to fight off the bugs.)
Whether you choose to believe this new research is entirely up to you. In the meantime, as the debate continues, your best bet is to not get flu in the first place.
