Do you know how much blood you have? Probably not, and you almost certainly don’t have the same amount as your partner or your children.

Men tend to have more than women and bigger people predictably have more than smaller people.

As an estimation, 7% of your body weight is made up of blood. You could have anywhere between 4 and 6 litres flying around your body as you read this.

And now imagine if you chug back 4 cold draughts on a sunny afternoon, that’s 2 litres of alcohol coursing through those very same arteries. A bigger person is going to have a lot more blood to dilute the booze.

Knowing how much you can drink and still be below the legal limit is incredibly important. To help you out we’ve put together a handy blood alcohol calculator so you can figure out when to stop so that you don’t put yourself or anybody else in danger.
