How to recognise a psychopath

As much as we wish it wasn’t the case, not everybody has your best interests at heart. Some of them simply don’t give a hoot as to your welfare, while others actively dislike you. Then there are the psychopaths.

Confusing matters further is the fact that it can often be unclear whether someone is just a little odd, or downright dangerous. Here are some ways you can spot a bad egg.

Weird emotions: people with psychopathic tendencies usually have much less emotional depth than normal people. Someone who never seems remotely happy or sad, for example, might be one to watch out for

Inflated self-worth: psychopaths usually think very, very highly of themselves. Typically they might seem quite boastful, and can often feel a strong sense of entitlement towards money or status.

Sound like someone you know? Probably not, fortunately true psychopaths aren’t all that common. Still, it’s a good idea to know what to look out for. Read our full guide to spotting a psychopath.
