Eat like a Greek

People living around the Mediterranean are said to live longer than their other European counterparts. The key, experts believe, is in the Mediterraneans' healthy diet. A study has found that approximately 30% of heart attacks, strokes and death from heart disease can be prevented by eating a Mediterranean Diet.

Take action:

Here are a few tips on how to eat like the Mediterraneans do: use olive oil instead of sunflower oil when cooking; include five fruits and veggies in your diet every day; eat fish two to three times a week; choose whole-grain instead of refined foods; have a handful of nuts every third day; drink a glass of red wine with your dinner; limit the amount of red meat you eat; cut saturated and trans fats from your diet; and try to keep your portion sizes small.

Eat Mediterranean, live longer
