Pinkeye is doing the rounds at schools and it is a highly contagious infection. If your eyes become weepy, sticky or red, you may have pinkeye, aka conjunctivitis. Pinkeye is extremely unsightly and uncomfortable and the best way to deal with it is to treat it fast.

Take action:

Because the infection is so contagious, make sure you wash your hands before and after touching your eyes, and never share eye make-up, contact lens equipment, -containers and -solutions, towels, linens, pillows or handkerchiefs.

Apply an over-the-counter antiseptic eye ointment to the eye and a warm compress to ease discomfort. If it doesn't resolve within a day or two, see your doctor for a prescription antibiotic ointment or eye drops.
