Take action:
• Opt for a high-heat cooking technique (grilling or pan-searing in a non-stick pan), which brown meat and fish and give it that crusty tastiness.
• Pop vegetables into the oven and roast at 230 degrees C to make them sweeter and smokier. First brush them with a little oil and season with herbs.
• Slice onions and caramelise them by cooking them slowly over a low heat in a small amount of butter.
• Use brightly-coloured peppers or a little hot pepper sauce to spice up your meals.
• Use the juice or zest from citrus fruits such as oranges, lemons or limes, or boldly-flavoured accents such as fresh coriander, pomegranate seeds or Peppadews.
• Add condiments such as wasabi, chutney, tapenade, salsa, horseradish or flavoured mustard. Be sure to check the label for added sugar and salt.
