Western Cape firefighters have responded to more than 9 500 fires in the past five months.
Local Government, Environmental Affairs and Development Planning MEC Anton Bredell said the fires had burnt more than 135 000 hectares of land.
Among the latest ones was a blaze on Table Mountain, above the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, which started at the weekend.
