A Cape Town teacher collapsed and died after apparently suffering a heart attack at a staff meeting, prompting teacher unions to raise concerns about the high stress levels faced by educators.
Clive Daniels, 58, a geography and tourism teacher, and rugby coach, at Scottsdene High School in Kraaifontein, died on Tuesday.
The executive director of the National Professional Teachers' Organisation of South Africa (Naptosa), Basil Manuel, said teachers had long been subjected to many different stresses.
