The Equality Court, sitting in the Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg, has ordered a businessman to pay R500 000 to the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation after finding that he used the K-word multiple times during business and personal discussions.

The court also ruled that "unrepentant" Willem Ackerman issue a public apology to his business associates and undergo 50 hours of racial sensitisation with the SA Human Rights Commission (SAHRC).

However, the Johannesburg businessman is appealing that ruling by Judge Gregory Wright.
